Description

Where to start!

I have been capturing data on this target for about 4 weeks, in and out of bad weather and other targets. In total I think I had captured about 25 hrs of data, about 10 I had to scrap due to cloud, satellites and my mount/guiding and then I scrapped around 8 as the extra eight seemed to do more harm than benefit, so I have landed on Ca. 7 hrs of data.

Because of the harsh processing, the star colour is not great, the nebula is mottled and the nebula has really shown itself.

This has been a real headache to capture and process. I had presumed that if I had captured more data I could get the dark nebula to better show itself, but this has not been the case. I had to do a lot of work just to get the nebula to show. So I am publishing this and will move on and figure where I have gone wrong and what I can do in the future.

I am in a Bortle 8 area and am wondering whether this had an impact on this capture. I have seen images of this DSO with 2 hrs int. time and the nebula has shown up just fine, where am I gong wrong? Any ideas are most welcome.
