Description

Another shorter capture where the RASA 8 shines. This compilation of dark nebula in the constellation of Cassiopeia is highlighted by LBN 603. Often referred to as the Giraffe nebula with an outstretched neck in the center of the field, I also see a large head of a Giraffe with the nose angle to the bottom left, ears  and small horns of dust. Not many detail exist on distance or size of the nebula.

While processing the last two dark nebula images, I have done most of the non linear sharpening and contrast enhancements in the I port of the HSI. My experience with I or V in HSV provides better fine control without affecting the color balance/saturation of the dark nebula.

Initially, I processed the stars with minimal reduction after BlurX, but as you can see in image B the image did not accomplish my goal. I went back and used MMT and Bill Blanshan's pixel math technique to really punch out the stars. I prefer a denser star field in general, but felt it took away from the image. It made me definitely miss the days of EZ star reduction, especially the Adam block scrip deemphasis component.

Has anyone else found similar approach using StarX
