Description

Horsehead and Flame revisited

After ignoring it last year, I returned to the ever-popular Horsehead and Flame nebula in the constellation Orion, this time with a different camera than in 2020 and armed with better filters. This camera has a larger sensor and more resolution, and if Martha Stewart took astro pictures she’d say that is a “good thing.” Didn’t get as many red frames as planned because Orion slipped behind my neighbor’s tree too quickly the second night and I had a cable snag and the camera disconnected itself while I was eating a nice ribeye steak at Fleming’s with my wife the third night. When I got home, I needed to grab an hour of that green comet C/2022 E3 (ZTF) before it disappeared forever, so I had to make a choice between more red frames or the comet and the comet won out.
