Description

Attached below is my attempt at capturing the planet parade on March 28

On March the 28th, a spectacular celestial event took place, as 5 planets were visible above each other in what many refer to as a planet parade. The planets in question included Mars, Venus, Uranus, Mercury, and Jupiter. The trail image provided is a result of 4 hours of imaging and 2473 consecutive frames, starting before sunset (to include the sun) till all the planets and the moon came into frame. A delightful inclusion was the trails of the pleiades cluster

Of note is that whilst Uranus was theoretically in frame, it was difficult to pick out its trail in this image as perhaps the light pollution and brighter adjacent stars might have masked the planet.

The image was processed as follows, the program star stax was used to create the trails of the stars, moon, and planets to produce a single image. Starstax was used once more to create the sun trail. The two photos were combined using the "lighten" mode in photoshop which allowed the bright elements in each picture to shine through. lightroom and photoshop were used to enhance colors, sharpness, etc.
