Description

I'm working on a mosaic of the Veil Nebula area, but it's slow going with our poor late summer weather here in Wales, and having spotted this object in one of my panels I decided it was worthy of its own image.

Beverly Turner Lynds catalogued this as LDN846, possibly including some of the wider dust around it, as her dimensions seems to cover most of this image. I can't find any other close ups of this object, just one or two where you can spot it in the corner of a wide field Veil Nebula image, but maybe there are some out there I don't know?. It's a lighter shade than the dust surrounding it, and a little push to the colour saturation has brought a little bit of blue to it. Not sure what's going on really, and  I'm intrigued as to what has caused this wriggling sort of shape - I guess some hefty interstellar winds?
