Description

A starless version of the Statue of Liberty for the 4th of July. NGC 3576 is a bright emission nebula in the Sagittarius arm of the galaxy a few thousand light-years away from the Eta Carinae nebula. Powerful winds from the nebula's embedded, young, massive stars shape the looping filaments.

This is a 31.6 hour RGB image with HOS narrow band color mapping using RGBSHO data from DSW South in Chile collected in March-April 2021. The full version with stars is at the link above.

Scope used and reducer: Takahashi TOA-150

Mount Used: Astrophysics 1600GTO-AE

Camera Used: FLI ML16200, FLI RGB & 8mm SHO filters

Software: PI 1.8.8-8, PS CS6, Starnet++

ISO/Exposure: R: 32x300s, G: 21x300, B: 20x300, SII: 20x1800, Ha: 19x1800, OIII: 12x1800. Total Exposure: 31.6 hrs
