Description

The lunar eclipse on the morning of November 19, 2021 was quite the sight to behold from the Washington DC area.  A storm passed through the evening of the 18th, but skies started to clear around midnight on the 19th and we were treated to gloriously clear skies by the time of maximum eclipse at 4:02 am EST.  Watching the progression of the moon through Earth's shadow was fascinating (my first time) and the final state was an eerily beautiful sight.  This image was taken at the time of maximum eclipse.

Imaged with WO GT81 at F12 using a 2x Celestron barlow (478x2=956 mm focal length) and Nikon D750 full frame DSLR.  Single shot at ISO1600 with an exposure of 1 second.
