Description

Messier 91

A barred spiral galaxy approximately 63 Mly away discovered in 1781 by Charles Messier and found in the constellation of constellation Coma Berenices. M91 was 'lost' due to a book keeping mistake by him where he had accidentally recorded its position relative to M58, when infact he sould have used M89. It was not until 1969 this problem was finally solved by William C. Williams.
