Description

First time imaging this extraordinary emission nebula under heavy light polluted skies and half to full moon
This object is on the tail end of its traverse across our southern skies so could only manage 8 hours of data which is no where near enough to expose hidden detail.
Gradients were severe especially with the Oiii filter which limited my ability to stretch the image to expose more detail.

Bortle 8 Skies
Half to full moon
8”f5 Klaus Helmerich Carbon fibre Newt
Skywatcher EQ6-R pro mount
ZWO 2600MM  Cooled to -10C Gain 100
Ha 40 x 5 min dithered subs
Oiii 55 x 5 min dithered subs
Bias from library
Darks from library
Flats Ha and Oiii
EQMOD , Stellarium
APT
PHD2 Multistar guiding ( 0.45 to 0.55 )
Analysed , Calibrated and Stacked in ASTAP
Processed in Startools v1.7 via Compose ( L + Synthetic L from RGB, R (GB) (GB) Bi Color )

Fairly happy to massage some sort of image from the lousy noise ridden data

Under my Sky conditions you would probably need 15  to 20 hours to pull out some decent detail , especially some Ha accent. ( the moon didn’t help either)
