Description

This is a galaxy group located 230 million light years away in the constellation of Lacerta at a declination of +36 degrees.  Despite the fact that all of these galaxies are about the same distance away, I do not see much interaction here.

NGC 7265 is the largest and brightest galaxy. It is a magnitude 12 lenticular galaxy which spans 2.3 arc-minutes in our apparent view.  This corresponds to a large diameter of 150,000 light years.  The disk has interesting structure, with at least 3 distinct brightness zones.

The other galaxies are much smaller.  My favorite is UGC 12007, a barred ring spiral.

It is puzzling why this galaxy group was not included in the Hickson galaxy group catalogue.
