Description

This was shot over 3 nights on my Celestron C6 with my ASI2600MC Duo, mounted on my AM5

During this time I was struggling with figuring out the backfocus of my mount, as well as strange reflections/artifacts in my images, which I discovered were due to 1) excess power being fed to the Celestron dew heater giving star-shaped artifacts, as well as 2) reflections from the dew heater ring.  These were mostly solved on the 3rd night of imaging by cutting power to the dew heater, and by painting over the exposed areas of the dew heater rings reducing the internal reflections.

In order to remove the artifact on the stars, I did the following:
1) Integrate all 3 days of the stack --> DBE --> SPCC --> starXterminator to separate the nebulosity, discard the mis-shapen stars
2) Integrate the last day of the stack --> SPCC --> starXterminator to extract the better shaped stars
3) PixelMath to add the good stars to the total 3 days of nebulosity.
4) NoiseXterminator, then GHS

Comments would be welcome about the processing, as well as if there are thoughts as to better ways to deal with bad stars from a stack while keeping data for the nebulosity.
