Description

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving with friends and family. Thought I would share a project of mine from this past weeks good weather here. This is a very faint planetary nebula identified as HFG-1. It is actually a pair of stars rapidly orbiting each other. The entire binary system is racing through our galaxy at extremely high velocity leaving a glowing trail behind it and producing a blueish shock wave around it. The small pinkish white bubble seen in the trail is another planetary nebula known as Abell 6. I feel lucky to have been able to image this from my home in town testing out a new imaging rig configuration. I paired my full frame QHY410C with my SVX102T at its native focal length to see how well they would work together.  I was also testing the new Optolong L-Ultimate filter.  I  mixed a few hours of broadband data in mainly for star color.
