Description

This has been my little project over the past 2 months because of all the awful weather we have been having.  I used this galaxy while working on honing in the "hybrid guiding" technique with the 10 Micron mount.  To get the finest details, I created a 64 point sky model and trimmed the worst points to get at or below 6" RMS.  Then, with great help from the 10 Micron forums, I tweaked the settings of my guide camera and PhD2.  The result was guiding that at one point went as low as 0.27" RMS total!  After 2 months of waiting for clear skies, and tinkering in between, here we have NGC 3227, which my older daughter thought looked like a treble clef.

NGC 3227 is thought to have a supermassive black hole in the center, and is interacting with the adjacent dwarf galaxy, NGC 3226.  They are a mere 77 million light-years away from Earth.
