Description

A bit on the smaller side (as galaxies go), M64 is only ~54K light years in diameter. The galaxy is 17 million light years distant, and contains about 100 billion stars. The galaxy is interesting (beyond the obvious black eye) for having two separate, counter-rotating disks.

This image was formed partially from data taken at home in 2020 (just a few frames); the majority of data were captured at the TAAA CAC dark site in AZ this year.
