Description

This Astrobin Debut Object is a spiral galaxy located 85 million light years away in the constellation of Eridanus at a declination of -21 degrees.  It is a magnitude 11.5 galaxy which spans 3 arc-minutes in our apparent view.  This corresponds to a diameter of 75,000 light years.

The core has some interesting detail, looking a bit 3-D like.  No arm structure is present – instead, a mid region pseudoring has formed.  The outer disk looks flocculent.

The Hubble image was not as helpful here as I had hoped to understand the galaxy in more detail.
