Description

NGC3726 is a very nice barred spiral galaxy in the constellation Ursa Major. It actually features a small bar - tiny 1.5 arc seconds across - compare this to the extension of the galaxy of 6 arc minutes or so - it's tiny!  on the larger scale the three-arm structure clearly shows moderate asymmetry, enough to clearly see it, but still sufficiently constrained not to perturb the overall appearance of the galaxy. There are numerous HII regions in the galaxy, so it may be a worthwhile object for some Ha follow-up - there are not too many narrow-band targets in the spring, and the moon still stands pretty high during bright time.

Data were taken on 2024 Feb 24,  and March 3, 7, 8, and 9
