Description

This astrophoto is of the Crescent Nebula and neighboring nebulosity in Cygnus.  It's a narrowband image, 50+ hours of Hydrogen Alpha, Oxygen III and Sulfur II processed in Pixinsight and mapped to the Hubble SHO palatte.

The Crescent Nebula is formed by a clash of Titans - two shock waves of colliding stellar winds form the visible shell.

Also visible is a small structure that has been called the "Cygnus Soap Bubble" which was only discovered in 2007.
