Description

At the time of recording, the distance from earth to moon was 401483 km / 250000 mi.

What is impressive to me is the Rupes Altai cliff, which runs almost vertically in this image and ends in the south at the crater "Piccolomini". Rupes Altai forms the south-western boundary of the Mare Nectaris impact basin. The cliff is about 430 km / 267 mi long (Cologne - Hamburg / Los Angeles - Las Vegas) and up to one kilometer / 3300 ft high. It is the longest cliff on the moon but not always clearly visible depending on the light situation.

The Mare Nectaris has an average diameter of approx. 330 km / 205 mi. In the south of this Mare is the 4200m / 13800ft deep crater Theophilus with the impressive central mountain with a height of 1400 meters / 4600 ft.

When I look at the surface of the moon, I have to keep in mind the dimensions of the different mare and craters to understand that I will never be able to see the eagle landing gear with my telescope. :-)

This time I worked with my 0.7 x reducer, so with an actual focal length of 1422 mm. This is probably why the seeing seemed to me a little better this time, although I really can't judge it properly due to my lack of experience. I am still looking for a simple software? help to be able to judge seeing fairly correctly.

Again, I used the Baader Moon & Skyglow filter for better contrast, which always causes me some problems when developing color images with the ASI 385 MC color camera.

Out of the recorded avi file with 545 color frames I stacked the best 50% in black and white. After that I sharpened with Registax which is still a challenge for me. I always tend to overdo it. Finally i did some finetuning with Lightroom.

Conclusion: Practice makes perfect. At some point in the future... :-)
