Description

Is that a dragon or a snake floating in clouds of red hydrogen gases, or is it a horse rearing its head? More popularly known as the Horsehead Nebula, Barnard 33 is a small dark nebula in the constellation Orion. The nebula is located just to the south of Alnitak, the easternmost star of Orion's Belt, and is part of the much larger Orion molecular cloud complex. Imaged with many different focal lengths ranging from the very wide to the very long, it is a very popular target amongst astrophotographers thanks to its contrasting dark clouds and hydrogen gases, not to mention it’s horsehead like shape…..
