Description

This is Sunspot Group AR2957 imaged about 10am this morning (Friday, March 4th) from Batavia Ohio. What we can see is a very active magnetic/plasma storm in the Chromosphere of the sun. From left to right each sunspot is negative than a positive magnetic pole. So if this looks like metal filings near a magnet you are right (except that the filings are actually plasma, the large spot at the end is approximately the size of Earth and about 36,000 degrees F).
