Description

The Rosette Nebula (NGC 2244) is a massive cloud of mostly hydrogen gas located in the constellation Monceros. This is a star forming area and you can see where the young stars that form the cluster in the center of the nebula have carved out Hydrogen gas during their formation. As the gas collapses additional stars are being formed. This nebula is located approx 5000 light-years from earth and is roughly 130 light-years in diameter. This image was made from 8 hours of data collected over the course of two nights using my Orion ED 80T and ZWO 183 MC pro with Optolong L-Extreme filter.
