Description

That all-knowing source, the Internet, reports that M17 may be one of the brightest and largest star-forming regions in the galaxy. It is similar to the Great Orion Nebula, but we view M17 from its side.  I confess that I don't see the Greek letter Omega, or a swan, or a checkmark, lobster or horseshoe.  Maybe a shamrock?  Whatever it looks like, it is a vivid and interesting target.
