Description

This is also an image utilizing my previous Esprit 100 and EQ6-R Pro.  This is one of my favorite regions in Cygnus.  I was particularly pleased to capture the Sadr nebulosity and the Crescent Nebula in one frame.  The Crescent was masked while the remainder of the image was processed, and then I masked the remainder and processed the Crescent.  Otherwise the Crescent ends up being very green in an SHO Hubble pallet due to the strong H-alpha signal.

The Crescent Nebula is very fascinating as it is created by a massive Wolf-Rayet star, WR-136.  This massive star is nearing the end of its life and is expected to explode as a supernova in the near future, astronomically speaking.  When that happens, it will be a gorgeous site from Earth.
