Description

The Trifid Nebula -- M20 in the Messier Catalog -- is parked near the core of our galaxy in Sagittarius. If you saw my fancy video of the Milky Way rising over Crozet whilst my telescope deadeyed a point near the core, this is what I was hunting. It is a rare combination of three nebulae types (emission -- pink, reflection -- blue, and dark -- errr...dark) that reveal the fury of freshly formed stars and point to more star birth in the future.
