Description

It was an amazing year 2023 that brought a lot of nice moments! To get across the impression that I've got after my recent trip to Africa I just wanted to post this image from my favourite place in Namibia. As I might have mentioned earlier in the beginning of our trip, we had to deal with an extreme haze from wildfires which is typical for August – September in Namibia. It was new for me and I wasn't prepared to such a scenario. Although I was told that it shouldn’t affect astrophotography first 2 days I was just desperately checking the weather app whether the wind direction will change soon. As the app showed the upcoming night was supposed to have perfect atmospheric conditions, we prepared our gear for a long session. It was a third night of the trip that we decided to spend next to the observation deck and suddenly the smoke lifted after the blow of the wind and a perfectly dark sky with the Milky Way setting in the west opened to my eyes. A tiny stripe of the smoke remained over the horizon line till next morning until the sky have got crystal blue color.
