Description

I remember that the Cocoon Nebula was one of the first astroimages that struck me about 10 years ago, when I started this hobby.
Due to the fact that from my backyard I don't see the North, I never was able to shoot this subject (and, anyway, in the case I could... I live under B8 LP so it's impossible to get a nice result).
Since one year I started to travel under darker skies for some better images - it was time to take this picture.
For this image I've been to a special place, more than 1.000 meters high on a mountain.
The conditions were excellent, those you can find a couple of time in one year: 21.06 sqm, 20 degrees, Moon 6%, almost no humidity, the air was fresh and still, great seeing, and pointing the scope to the perfect direction because to N-NE from that locations there are dozen of km without cities, only mountains, so no LP at all. I read from my app that also from the city the conditions were good, but looking at the plain from the top of the mountain, I could see down a huge haze (like a carpet) which maybe one could used to, staying in the city. I could appreciate the incredibile better transparency were I was.
Processing this image, I was pulling more of the faint dust than expected and in the end it came out like if it had its own life... I reprocessed from scratch more than one time, with more conventional results, but I'm fine with this one.
Hope you like it, thanks for watching.
