Description

The Horsehead Nebula is a small dark nebula illuminated by the larger emission nebula IC434 and is located in a large area of gas and dust around Orion’s Belt in the constellation Orion. At 1600 ly from Earth it is composed mostly of hydrogen. The large white nebula to the lower left is NGC 2024, The Flame Nebula, and is likely ionized by the bright star Alnatik just above it. This was captured in Jan 2024
