Description

This is a narrowband image of M17 captured over two nights.  More data is needed -- particularly in Ha, which was cut short due to clouds.  Light pollution was an issue and I currently shoot with broader nb filters but plan to reshoot this with 3nm Ha and Oiii filters from darker skies to capture the detailed nebulosity more.

Total images:
  Ha: 15 @ 180s
  Sii: 30 @ 180s plus 15 @ 300s
  Oiii: 19 @ 180s plus 12 @ 300s

Processing:
PixInsight: WBPP, Cosmetic Correction, Alignment, Stacking and stretching to non-linear (Histogram Transformation).  Starnet to separate stars and nebulosity then separate application of curves and histogram transformation to each (focusing on noise reduction for the nebula frame, including Multiscale Linear Transformation, and focusing on contrast and black enhancement on the star field), minor clone stamp touchup to remove some stars and halos, recombination with PixelMath.
Photoshop: selective color modification, levels adjustment with mask layer to separately adjust nebula core exposure, noise reduction.
Lightroom: gradient editing to make background gradient more uniform, minor tweaking of exposure level.

This is one of my last images made with my ASI1600MM-Pro before upgrading to the 2600.  Looking forward to reshooting this with that sensor.  Tracking was on a Rainbow Astro RST-135.
