Description

M-107 (NGC-6171) is a loosely structured (Class X) globular cluster in Ophiuchus, just 2-1/2 degrees SW of Zeta Ophiuchi. It lies about 21,000 light years from Earth, and is 60 light years in diameter. It was discovered by Pierre Mechain in 1782.
