Description

NGC1491 is one of those patches of higher density HII regions spread across the Milky Way, in themselves part of a much waster conglomerates of such regions only at considerably lower density. I did a very early attempt in 2004 with the MX716 to no great success (it was terrible to get flat-fielding right!). Did try again in 2006 with the SXV and as was usual at the time, unguided, with better success. Having at the time different priorities than emission nebulae I moved one and never went back and did it again. As it wasn't terrible I never felt the urge to improve upon this early result and therefore escaped the cull. So you got to see it as I made it, warts and all (as Oliver Cromwell would have put it)...
