EN - After three cloudy months, I could finally try my first session with autoguiding. For sure, my experience of astrophotography is changed forever !

For this first try, I have planned to point in the direction of the constellation of the Swan, about 1,500 light years from Earth near the star Deneb, where we can find a surprising nebula. On the left side, the resemblance to North America (NGC 7000) becomes impressive as we associate the dark spot with the Gulf of Mexico.Moving to the right, we pass through Florida, a somewhat diffuse but perceptible location, until we reach the Pelican Nebula (IC 5070), with dark clouds highlight the eye and the beak, while the glowing gas suggests Shape of the head and neck.

FR - Après trois mois nuageux, j’ai enfin pu essayer ma première session avec autoguidage. Ce qui est sûr c’est que mon expérience de l’astrophotographie est changée à tout jamais !

Pour ce premier essai, j’ai choisis de pointer dans la direction de la constellation du Cygne, à environ 1500 années-lumière de la Terre près de l’étoile Deneb, où nous pouvons trouver une nébuleuse surprenante. À gauche, la ressemblance avec l’Amérique du Nord (NGC 7000) est très impressionnante, surtout lorsque nous associons la tache noire au golfe du Mexique.En nous déplaçant vers la droite, nous passons par la Floride, un endroit un peu diffus mais perceptible, jusqu’à ce que nous atteignions la nébuleuse du Pélican (IC 5070), avec des nuages sombres qui mettent en évidence l’œil et le bec, tandis que le gaz rougeoyant suggère la forme de la tête et du cou.

Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
Promotions by Submitters When 3 distinct Submitters promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for Top Pick status. This requirement, in addition to anonymization of images and distribution to only a subset of them, prevents biases and ensures that the best images are selected.

If an image is dismissed 5 times, it's removed from the process. This streamlines the process and ensures that any bias present in promotions could be overruled by other staff members.
