Description

This is a 25.8h SHO image of M16, the Eagle Nebula with RGB stars using LRGBSHO data from Deep Sky West in Rio Hurtato, Chile collected between August and October 2023.
The Eagle Nebula is part of a diffuse emission nebula, or H II region, with the bright region of active current star formation at about 5700 light-years distance. The cluster associated with the nebula, NGC6611, has approximately 8100 stars. The cluster's age has been estimated to be 1–2 million years. [based on Wikipedia]

Generalized Hyperbolic Stretch (GHS) by David Payne and Mike Cranfield  was critical in gaining the depth in this image.
