Description

I finally got round to imaging this amazing galaxy, with a lot of hope and expectation to bring forth that outer galactic ring. I swapped over the camera, and left it running for luminance, as I crawled my way to bed... but alas a dodgy plug-socket, caused the electric to stop reaching the mount, and it shut it off only after an hour's worth of luminance, and there I was hoping to get about 5! How annoying! The Neq pro6 mounts are notorious for the weak centre pin sockets, which is why later models have a decent screw version, and occasionally the connection breaks and lo and behold... I have since fixed it, he says... Anyway, it was a real battle to process this, because to get that ring to retally pull through, takes far more integration time than I achieved. The moon is now too bright to return to this object, although I hope to image the planetary nebula NGC 6210 tonight, using a reducer on my f12 Cassegrain - not sure about that, but it will pull things down to a more manageable f8. We will see. Anyway, 46 RGBs and 64 luminances, each at 1 minute long! This equates to an imaging time of 1 hour and 50 minutes. Good nigth everybody...
