Description

Moon (20230727) - suddenly in my window

It seems that there is no longer a clear sky here: veil clouds day and night, lots of haze and humidity ... and then of course the thick gray ones .... cumulus clouds, showers. So I was extremely surprised when the waxing moon shone in all its glory from the Wetterstein mountain range due south right into my office window this late evening.

In a flash, I set everything up in the office(!) and, because the Moon would soon disappear behind the birch trees, simply took the picture through the open window.

So today, after a long time, I have a moon again!

NB: Couldn't focus nicely because I had no time to align the mount and track the Moon. I simply used the mount as a tripod and the biggest challenge was to center the Moon on the sensor, without any finder or other tool.

Title: Moon (20230727) - suddenly in my window v2

Description: Moon (20230727) - suddenly in my window v2

I am not happy with the somehow bulky appearance of the first image version. Thus I did a different post processing, making the moon looking more natural, smoother and still feature rich but without sacrificing detail.
