Description

By next month I'm sure the lovely nebular structures of the Milky Way will be catching my eye for imaging, but it's still galaxy season in my observatory. And, despite high clouds messing with a fourth of my subs, I was able to get some really nice data to produce this image.

Behind the scenes in processing the linear data, I created a nice method using Multi-scale Median Transforms and StarXterminator to remove a star reflection which made it through the telescope baffles and showed up prominently in the Lum data. After that issue was resolved, processing was a dream. Did I over saturate the image? Maybe, but the beautiful colors in these two galaxies needs to be seen.

The orientation of these two spiral galaxies (one is edge-on and the other face-on) is really interesting and makes a nice framing. These two are measured to be about 140Mly away and 0.5Mly apart. Enjoy!
