Description

Steward Sharpless created his description of the hydrogen emission regions by reviewing the sky images recorded by the Mount Palomar Observatory as part of the Palomar Sky Survey. In 1953 he published a catalogue which included areas of H II visible from the northern hemisphere. The catalogue contained 142 objects. In 1959, he published the second and final edition of his catalogue, which described 313 nebulae.
One of the most interesting and useful for us representations of objects from this catalog can be found on the portal CCD Images of Sharpless Catalogue.
And here there is a certain curiosity, at one time quite intensively discussed on internet forums outside Poland. Well, the catalog contains several objects, which give on these PSS discs barely a fleeting trace, and were classified as emission objects. The case interested me so much that in addition to typical emission objects (I have already registered more than 50 objects) I decided to register these unusual nebulae. Long ago (in 2012) I registered Sh2-73 in the constellation of Hercules, last year Sh2-63 in Sagittarius, and this year Sh2-33 and Sh2-36 located in the constellation of Serpent Head. Interestingly, all these objects require a wide field of view (minimum 3 arcdeg).
