Description

Description (wikipedia)

Sh2 -200 is a planetary nebula visible in the constellation Cassiopeia .It is located in the eastern part of the constellation, about 3° northeast of the great nebula IC 1848 ; the most suitable period for its observation in the evening sky falls between the months of September and February and it is considerably facilitated for observers located in the regions of the terrestrial boreal hemisphere , where it occurs circumpolar up to the warm temperate regions. It is a poorly studied object, which was initially cataloged as an H II region ; only in 1983 was its nature as a planetary nebula recognized, in a study of some nebulae of unusual appearance. [4] Its distance has been estimated to be around 1100  parsecs (about 3590 light years ), [2] on the outer edge of the Orion Arm .

Personal Note

This was one of those objects where, with an F/7 scope and an older CCD camera you need to keep on imaging to catch enough light for a decent result. In my case I needed 459x5 min exposures to get the result presented here.

Processing workflow

Chrominance: WBPP with 2xdrizzle, crop, DBE, Linear Fit, HOO combination, Background Neutralisation, Deconvolution, MaskedStretch, ArcsinthStretch, denoise, curves
Luminance (based on H channel): Background Neutralisation, Deconvolution, MaskedStretch, ArcsinthStretch, Starnet, GameMask, Curves, HDRM MST
