Description

I continue to be impressed with the dark skies and the level of detail that can be resolved by this setup when seeing conditions are really nice. I've shot this target many times from light polluted skies, and this is my first crack at it from New Mexico. At first I only shot LRGB, but after doing so, I thought I could resolve the local nebulas with greater detail if I also shot HA and OIII, so added that data, and it did indeed enhance multiple local nebulas within the galaxy. This was especially challenging to process since there are resolvable stars within M33, standard denoise processes would wipe out the stars as noise, so a luminance mask was required to remove noise. I've also included an unprocessed HA/OIII image to show the impact of the additional filter data.
