Description

I've shot this composition a few times with my samyang 135mm lens. But when my wife bought me the Sharpstar 6IEDPH 2 and matching flattener i knew i had to do it again. It fits perfectly in the FOV.

Not only did i get the scope and flattener, i woke up on christmas morning to find a 7nm 2" Ha Optolong filter nestled under the tree with my name What a wonderful family i have .

Boxing day night had predicted clear sky, and i already planned on heading down to Birling gap anyway. Well why travel light when you can take 2x trackers, 3x cameras, 8x lenses and a telescope with accessories

This was my first port of call, get a tracker polar aligned and set up with the Ha filter. Which is what i did. I then shot Ha until Orion was high enough in the sky to get some good quality RGB data to combine with the Ha.

I managed a total of 42x ISO 3200, 90 sec exposures for HA and 37x ISO 1600, 60 sec exposures for RGB.
