Description

The Heart and Soul Nebulas are two adjacent nebulae in the Perseus Arm of the Milky Way galaxy. The Heart Nebula (IC 1805) is known for its resemblance to a human heart, while the Soul Nebula (IC 1848) is adjacent and often considered as a complementary structure. These emission nebulae are regions of active star formation, containing young, massive stars that ionize surrounding gas, causing it to emit colorful light. Located in the constellation Cassiopeia.
