Description

Here is my first capture for Galaxy Season 2022! Messier 82 is a spiral galaxy located about 12 million lights years away in Ursa Major. We are looking at it almost edge-on, therefore, it has a cigar shape. The red gas being emitted from the center is the result high rate of new stars being born in the central region of the galaxy. This image was made from 5 hours of data that I captured with my Celestron 8SCT with .63 focal reducer and ZWO 533 MC Pro camera.
