Description

First light of my new APO refractor!

Guiding has become easier because of the lesser weight and geometry of the refractor compared to the newtonian I used in the past 6 years. I kept the same guiding scope to do a direct comparison.

Given the small sensor size of my camera I didn't add a flatner yet and it doesn't seem to be needed after all.

I believe the elongation in the lower right is due mainly to the slightly bent clamping of the imaging train to the scope, something to work on.

No real post-processing except histogram stretching and a bit of saturation plus desaturation of the handful of brighter stars, I guess that's the benefit of having many subs. I used 2x drizzle integration to get rounder stars though and then went back to the original size for the final image.

This is my best globular so far, enjoy!
