Description

IC 1396 mixes glowing cosmic gas and dark dust clouds in the constellation of Cepheus, about 3000 lights years from my backyard. Energized by the bright central star seen in the center of this image. Tthis star forming region sprawls across hundreds of light-years, spanning over three degrees. The Elephant's Trunk nebula is seen bottom right, contains a potential star forming region (NASA)

This was my second attempt with the Svbony SV48 refractor - an entry level 90 mm f5.5 doublet.  This time with 3 mins subs and guiding. The RMS numbers were high, but the stars still look pretty good to me. This a full field image, with very little cropping. I still don't have a field-flattener for this scope - and Svbony tells me they don't make one!  So Im still shopping around for one. Meanwhile, I was able to use the Startools ´Lens´module to correct for field curvature. Works very nicely! Overall, very pleased with this image, considering the scope used!

The revised version used the bicolor tool in Startools to rerepresent  the  Ha and OIII emission detected using the L-extreme filter.
