Description

This is NGC 7635, the Bubble Nebula. The "bubble" was created by the stellar wind from a very young, hot star--the one to the right of center. The star also illuminates the surrounding HII nebula.

The Bubble Nebula was discovered in 1787 by William Herschel and sits in the constellation Cassiopeia. It is roughly 7,100 light years away. The bubble itself is about seven light years in diameter.

We used an Optolong L-Pro filter on this, but we should have used a narrowband filter like the L-eNhance. We didn't have any idea what we were doing then. We don't know a ton more now, but we do plan to go back after this one with a more appropriate filter.
