Description

First taste of the Seven Sisters this year! Had to stay up till 2:30AM to start seeing it. Best 27 frames left over after sorting out cloudy/trailed frames, stacked in DSS.

ISO800, 27x50 sec. exposures on an unguided EQ2 mount. 20 Darks, 20 Bias, and 20 Flats.
Processed with Pixinsight, Photoshop, and Lightroom.

Tried a new technique in Pixinsight (channel extraction/ABE, NR, curve reduction on R/S-curve and NR on G and B channels/recombine), then ABE on the combined result with some Background Neutralization and Histogram/Curves Transformation. Layer blending in Photoshop, additional CA removal and NR in Lightroom.

Reprocessed with more frames, 54x50" on this attempt. Stretched the data a little less to preserve lines in the nebulosity.
