Description

This image was taken with an ASI2600mm Pro through an AstroTech 80ED on an EQ6-R Pro mount over two nights in December 2021.

The image comprises:

Ha:     49 x 300s
L:        40 x 180s
R:        20 x 180s
G:        20 x 180s
B:        20 x 180s

Total integration time was nine hours and five minutes. The image was processed in Pixinsight and tweaked in Photoshop.

The Horsehead is one of the most popular deep sky objects in the sky - and for good reason. A dark nebula against a larger emission nebula with dust and reflection nebula all around. This is a very busy area of space. Every winter I come back to it (like everyone else), forever trying to get a better image of the Horsehead.
