Description

The Sculptor Galaxy is visible only for a few weeks in autumn, low on the horizon always below 20° above sea level from Northern Italy and good part of Europe. The shooting technique used was therefore very particular: over 18,000 5-second frames, with a monochromatic camera in L, R, G, B and Ha bands. The integration work required a careful and severe selection of the best frames, and the use of some of the most modern techniques. The result is this very low and fast sculpture.
Technical data: ASI1600MM camera with LRGBHa filters; APO Askar FRA600 f/5.6; AM5 harmonic mount; ASIair OAG guide. Processing in Pixinsight.
Imaging site: Cognento (Modena), with the lights of Sassuolo on the shooting line, so at 10 seconds the frames were completely white.
