Description

M57 - the Ring Nebula

This object, M57, is a planetary nebula, a deep space object, in the constellation of Lyra - not far from the star Vega. This is a planetary nebula - which is actually very bright, despite its small size. This image was shot on the Celestron EdgeHD 14" at Westport Astronomical Society. The details:

Camera: Nikon D750

Telescope: Celestron EdgeHD 14"

Lights: 56 @ 60s ISO 3200

Flats : 40

Darks : 40

Bias: 180

Software: PixInsight, Photoshop, Nik Filters, Lightroom

In this field, there's an even smaller, and likely super distance galaxy (at 11 o'clock w/r/t the Ring). I'll have to do a plate-solve to figure out what it actually is.
