Description

Messier 95 (ambient 20°C/94%RH)

My second failed galaxy image of the season. Conclusions:
1. Never image through haze and moisture.
2. Use a light pollution filter.
3. Do not let clouds confuse your autoguiding.
4. Take time for darks, flats and biases.
5. Galaxy imaging demands a clear and transparent sky

Though Siril is excellent in background extraction, calibration makes a big difference by evening background, removing sensor contamination and vignetting. Old school but recently experienced in practice. The latest additions to Siril, interface to Starnet2++ (CLI) and the new star size reduction script (courtesy PI developers) are working flawlessly (need Ver 1.2.0. Beta 2). Great stuff, indeed! Stacking in Siril, too, is painless and straightforward with its scripts.

Rev B: The star Regulus used for focusing (5 x 30sec, ISO1600).
