Description

The sky cleared last night, although quite a bit of cloud drifted in and out. Normally, the sky is about Bortle 5-6 here, sometimes a bit worse, but last night, after all the rain, we had a sky that was about as good as we ever get - at least in the southern region, which is my best area for imaging - about Bortle 4.5, I would say. Very rare indeed, but nice. Anyway, this was my first straight RGB image using the Rasa 8, of a region that I have never had much success with before; I always fair better with the triplet in Leo. The Rasa has performed so well - and I managed to get a lot of faint galaxies in the image as well. I use manual focus, which never shifts, not even during the whole night - sometimes it is still accurate on its focus the next day. I cannot believe how well things are turning out with this - my knees were knocking at the thought of getting this scope, but everything is all ok! Even at a one second exposure, I could see the main galaxies!

I also got the O3 data last night for Lower's nebula, I already have the Ha data for it from a previous night - the weather dropped off on that night, so I was unable to get the O3 at that time. I am processing these data sets as I write!

Cheers everyone...
